Woodroffe Legal Education is an independent provider of live online courses and personalised training for anyone preparing to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales.
Woodroffe's programmes support students at every stage of their preparation, from a first introduction to law to the final stage of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
The SQE is a centrally assessed, two-stage examination that was introduced in 2021 to make qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales more accessible. Its introduction has widened the route into the profession for graduates in any subject, without the need for a Graduate Diploma in Law, as well as for those whom the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) assesses as having degree-equivalent qualifications or work experience.
Woodroffe shares the aim of widening access to the legal profession. Our online SQE preparation courses and personalised one-to-one teaching are open to individuals from diverse academic and working backgrounds. Our SQE programmes cover both stages of the examination (SQE1 and SQE2), with live teaching at their core. Lectures and small-group classes sit alongside one-to-one sessions that you can book as you need them.
Additionally, if you are new to law, Introduction to Learning Law is our six-week course for complete beginners.
Structured teaching pairing a weekly live lecture with a small-group class. Each course is part-time and covers a single SQE1 subject.
Personalised tuition building command of the substantive law tested in both SQE1 assessments, with systematic single best answer practice.
Short Course for SQE1 FLK1 | Six weeks | £250
This course begins on Monday 2 November 2026.
Short Course for SQE1 FLK2 | Six weeks | £250
This course begins on Monday 4 January 2027.
Courses Open for Booking lists Woodroffe courses you can book now, as well as those coming later.
Tutor-led coaching for the skills stage of the SQE (SQE2), delivered in live, online one-to-one sessions. You practise client interviewing, advocacy and written exercises. Your tutor gives you individual, exam-focused feedback on your performance.
Revise SQE books set out the core law tested in SQE1 and show how the skills in SQE2 are assessed. They are concise, focused revision material to use alongside your live teaching.
The books are prescribed reading for our SQE1 short courses, and recommended for SQE1 tuition and SQE2 coaching.
If you are registered to study with us, you may be eligible for a discount on books bought directly from Revise SQE, subject to the publisher’s discount scheme, approval and availability.
Learning Law is a six-week course for complete beginners, taught live and online. Each week combines a lecture with a small-group class. You learn how law is made, how the courts and case law work, and how to read, interpret and find the law. The course gives you a grounding in the discipline, and a clear view of whether to go on to prepare for the SQE.
Every programme is built around live teaching. Lectures, classes and one-to-one sessions take place online, in real time, with a tutor. In classes and one-to-one sessions, you can ask questions, work through problems and receive feedback as you go. Your own study between sessions builds on that teaching. Woodroffe’s programmes are designed for the two to work together.
Students come to Woodroffe from very different starting points. Some are new to the study of law. Others are well into their preparation for the SQE. Our programmes are designed to meet you wherever you begin.

Not yet registered. You need to be registered to study with Woodroffe before you can book. Registration is free and completed once only. Questions first. If you are not yet ready to register, contact us with any questions about where to begin.
Registering to study with us does not register you to sit the SQE. The two are entirely separate. Woodroffe Legal Education is an independent training provider. The SQE is centrally assessed by the SRA’s appointed assessment organisation. The SRA sets its own eligibility criteria for candidates. You register for the assessments directly with the SRA. See sqe.sra.org.uk for the SRA’s guidance on eligibility and registration.
